What Is Haggler Studio?

Haggler Studio is a women’s fashion studio in Shela, on the western edge of Ahmedabad. It opened in September 2026, founded by Jainam Shah. It sells Chaniya Choli and Navratri wear, everyday tops and ethnic wear, stitches outfits to your measurements, and alters clothes you already own — bought here or anywhere else. Almost all of it happens on WhatsApp.

Why a studio, not a shop

Buying an outfit in India usually means three visits to three places: a shop for the fabric or the piece, a tailor to make it fit, and — after the first wear — the tailor again to fix what the first fitting missed. Each one is a negotiation. Each one is someone else’s problem when it goes wrong.

Haggler Studio puts the three in one room. The piece, the measurements, the fitting and the finishing are the same people, so the person who sold you the chaniya is the person responsible for how it sits on you at midnight on the eighth night of Garba. Fit is the product; the garment is what it comes in.

What is a haggler?

A haggler is someone who bargains for the price — mol-bhaav in Hindi, bhaav-taal in Gujarati — and in India that word belongs to our mothers. Think of her at the cloth market the week before a wedding or Navratri. She does not look at the tag first. She rubs the fabric between finger and thumb, holds it to the light, turns the piece inside out and reads the seams, counts the kali in the chaniya, tugs a mirror to see if it moves, asks whether the zari is real. Only then does the talk about money begin, and by then she knows exactly what the piece is worth.

That is the skill. Not getting the cheapest thing, but paying the right price for the best thing on the rail, and never letting the price talk her into a weaker fabric or a lazy stitch. Every family has one. It is how a generation bought clothes that lasted twenty years and are still worn today.

The studio is named for her, and it does her job for you. The fabric is checked before it is bought, the cut is argued over before it is stitched, the fit is fixed before the piece leaves the room — by people who stand behind it when you dance. The price on the site is the price, and it is the one she would have got.

What is on the rail

Every ready piece is free size and is fitted to you before it leaves. Every price on the site is the price; nothing is quoted from a photograph we made up.

Custom stitching

Send a reference — a photo, a reel, a piece you own — and the studio makes it to your measurements. Measurements can be taken in the studio or sent from home from a garment that already fits. There is a trial fitting before anything is finished. Stitching is priced with the garment, not billed on top, and the first round of alterations on the fit is included.

The studio will also tell you when a reference relies on a fabric that behaves differently from the one you are holding — before it is cut, not after.

Alterations

Bring anything: a saree blouse that gapes, a lehenga that drags, a dress from another shop, a jacket from another decade. Most alterations can be quoted from a photo on WhatsApp, and most are done within the week. Hems, linings, hooks and edges are finished by hand, because that is the step most places skip and the one you feel every time you wear the piece.

How ordering works

WhatsApp is the counter. Message +91 97249 76362 with the piece you want or the thing you have in mind. The studio replies with the price, asks for measurements or a fitting time, and confirms a date. Ready pieces ship across India with shipping included; stitched pieces are fitted first. Visiting is welcome — Monday to Saturday, 11am to 8pm, longer through Navratri — but not required for a straight answer about price or timing.
